District Spotlight

“Mrs. Horton, the high school kitchen manager, had the idea to paint a mural on what was a large white wall with a maroon zigzag stripe across it. I approached Mrs. Miller, the high school art teacher, with the idea of having high school students design and paint it. She offered designing it as an optional project for art class and a number of kids submitted their ideas. We had a committee look them over and ended up combining aspects of a few different submissions. We got right to work as soon as the school year ended and between Mrs. Miller, five students, and myself we finished designing, prepping and painting it in about 10 days. It was great to try something new, and I’m so proud of how it turned out!” – Becky Kaltenbach, BCS Food Supervisor
