Dear Parents:
A Buchanan High School student is currently receiving treatment which compromises his/her immune system. This student is able to attend school and will be joining his/her peers in classroom activities.
This student’s family and the medical team caring for them need your help in notifying the school if your son(s) or daughter(s) contract chicken pox, measles, mumps, pertussis (whooping cough) or influenza (the flu). The medications that this student receives lessen his/her abilities to fight these infections as well as others. While we cannot protect this student from all illnesses within the classroom, exposure to these particular illnesses requires him/her to have prompt medical attention. Please notify the school immediately if your child/teen develops chicken pox, measles, mumps or pertussis (whooping cough). Parents are also reminded of the importance of keeping their children/teens home from school when they have these, as well as other contagious infections or illnesses.
This student, his/her family and the medical team involved in their care appreciate your support.
