SUPERINTENDENT /DEPARTMENT REPORTS
|
– Mary Ward received an honor on behalf of Ottawa Elementary School and Superintendent Mr. Donahue.
– Mr. Donahue discussed the New Hire Checklist with the Board. He also presented Bridge Magazine article showing 3rd to 8thgrade growth correlated to income level for Berrien county. Buchanan Community Schools is ranked 2nd in the county for this grade level growth.
– Mr. Donahue presented the Board with an article from School Finance Research Collaborative– Fact Sheet: Comprehensive Study provides Building Blocks To Reform Michigan School Funding

2018 FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION – OVERNIGHT FIELD TRIP

MOTION BY Member C. Lee, SECONDED BY Member D. Wentworth, The Buchanan Board of Education approves the robotics team trip to, Kentwood, MI., for the purposes of 2018 FIRST Robotics Competition. The Robotics team is expected to depart, March 29th, 2018, through March 31st, 2018, in accordance with Board policy #2340. This robotics team trip will be under the sponsorship of Mr. Phillip Place.

QUESTIONS & COMMENTS FROM BOARD MEMBERS | The Board reviewed a letter from the Berrien RESA informing that their Board Secretary has resigned as of February 12, 2018. Berrien RESA extended their request of service to those particularly serving or have served in the past on a School Board and noted their plans to appoint a new member at its March 12, 2018 Regular Meeting.
